Why Do Cats Need Proteins??
Most cats require approximately 30% of their dietary calories to come from protein to fuel their bodies and unique nervous systems, to grow hair continuously and to ensure a functioning immune system.
Common sources of animal proteins in cat food include beef, chicken, turkey, lamb, and fish. In addition to seeing these animal proteins on a label, you may also see different meat meals or meat by-products. And although many pet parents think these are bad ingredients, they actually provide concentrated protein sources.
WHAT'S THE PROBLEM??
Poultry livestock industry is the most commercialized and integrated in its production system (Federation of livestock farmers association of Malaysia, 2023).
Consumption of local chicken meat is 1.5 million tone/ yearly. With fluctuation of prices, the demand is hiking over the years and become the cheapest source of protein for Malaysian. (Agriculture and food Industries Ministry 2023)
However, despite various problems in poultry industry, there is a problem which can be hidden cost. Chicken which were injured during the logistic process.
Those injured poultry which can be 0.5% of daily production have been buried.
Thus, to sustain the planet, people and profit, these injured chicken will be slaughtered and used in the production of organic pet food name Doera
