RETORT TECHNOLOGY

Doera Cat Food use retort technology to preserve the nutrients protein sources. Retort is a processing method that uses heat and pressure to sterilize food. It is one of the most commonly used methods of thermal food processing and is popular with food producers across the world. The sealed pouch can also be re-heated in hot water or in a microwave before consumption.

Is retort technology healthy?
Nutritional content: The retort process retains most of the nutrients, although extended exposure to heat can adversely affect certain vitamins and minerals. Exposure to high heat degrades vitamin C, B and thiamine
What is the purpose of retort processing?
Retort processing consists of sterilizing, pasteurizing, or cooking a product (and its packaging) so it's both safe and of high quality. Just think of it as thermal processing to eradicate any microorganisms and extend a product's shelf life

Is retort food packaging safe?
The pouch is then heated to 240–250°F (116–121°C) for several minutes under high pressure, inside retort or autoclave machines. This process reliably kills all commonly occurring microorganisms (particularly Clostridium botulinum), preventing it from spoiling.
